MAST Permit FAQs
How much does it cost to get a MAST permit?
Costs vary. The WSLCB does not regulate the cost of classes. Our understanding is that most independent trainers charge $30 to $45 for class room format and online programs range from $20 to $30.
When will I get my MAST permit?
State law requires your trainer or provider to issue your permit within 30 days of the class.
Your MAST permit may be issued the day of the test if the instructor grades the test on site. However, some trainers grade the test at another site and then mail the permit to the student.
If you took the online class, your provider will mail you the permit within 30 days of the class completion
If you do not receive your permit within 30 days, contact the trainer or provider. If you still do not receive it, contact the WSLCB MAST coordinator at 360-664-1727.
How long does a MAST permit last?
The permits are good for five years. The permit will expire on the first day of the month after the month you took your test. For example, if you took the test on Oct. 20, your permit will expire on Nov. 1.
How do I renew my MAST permit?
To renew your permit, you must take the class again prior to the permit’s expiration date.
Do I need to keep my MAST permit with me when I work?
Yes. You must have your MAST permit and a valid form of ID with you any time you perform duties that include the sale, service or handling of liquor. Your permit must be presented with supporting ID if requested by a law enforcement officer.
The permit is your property, not the property of your employer.
How can I check to see if my MAST permit is still valid?
Visit the MAST permit checker and enter either your full name and date of birth, or your permit number to see if your permit is still valid.
How do I replace a lost MAST permit?
If you lose your permit, complete the Affidavit of Lost or Replacement Mixologist/Server Permit and mail it with a $5.00 check made payable to WSLCB to:
WSLCB MAST Coordinator

Olympia, WA 98504-3085
You can also contact your provider or trainer to replace your permit.
